What’s New in Plant-Based Medicine?” with Lisa Karlan, we are discussing “How to Transform Your Health at Any Age” with Melissa Mondala, MD, MHA, DipACLM, a double board certified Family Medicine & Lifestyle Medicine physician. Dr Mondala practices at the Institute of Plant-Based Medicine (IOPBM) in Newport Beach, CA where the mission is to treat, prevent, and reverse disease using a multi-speciality approach combining plant-based nutrition with evidence-based medicine. Dr Mondala obtained her medical degree from Chicago Medical School and a Masters of Health Administration. She completed her Family Medicine residency and the first Lifestyle Medicine Fellowship from Loma Linda University Health. She was awarded the Lifestyle Medicine Diplomate/Specialist from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr Mondala’s special focus is on mental health and will be completing her Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship in December 2020. As a Family Medicine physician, Dr Mondala cares for patients of all ages across multiple generations.

Additionally, Dr Mondala serves on the Family & Preventive Medicine Faculty at Loma Linda University Health, in the Lifestyle Medicine specialty clinic and the inpatient lifestyle medicine service.  She serves on the Board of Directors of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. Dr Mondala is active in the lifestyle medicine movement not only within academic institutions, but on various social media platforms, participating in community fairs, podcasts, and on television. She is an engaging motivational speaker bringing evidence based medicine to combat chronic diseases, while uplifting potential barriers through self-empowerment and compassion.
